Lucile Laughlin Scholarship

Lucile Laughlin was born in Elida, NM, and educated in its schools. After completing a business college in Abilene, TX, she entered the business community at a time when fewer opportunities were available for women to pursue a business career outside the home. Ms. Laughlin worked for several years in eastern New Mexico businesses that provided wholesale groceries, insurance, banking, and legal services. She made a substantial contribution to the growth of eastern New Mexico in the last half of the 20th century and was the source of love, courage and support to three generations of her family. In honor of Ms. Laughlin’s example of commitment and determination, the C.L.C. Foundation of Houston, Texas is pleased to award two $1,000 scholarships to young women from Eastern New Mexico or West Texas Panhandle who are planning to pursue a business career.
